Bigger and Better Than Ever: The Witney Food Festival 2014
On May 17th, the Witney Food Festival came back to town. The church green was already buzzing by 10:00 am, and as we fetched our second wheelbarrow of ice info the church hall, we knew we were in for a big day.
Crammed onto our modest table were our jars of home-made Piccalilli, our favourite wines and ales, a caddy of Pimms and an enormous ice bucket chilling bottles of Prosecco.
As TV Comedian Alex Armsrtong announced the festival open, we were barely able to move for all the bottles on our stand. But by lunchtime, Frazer was dashing back to the pub for extra supplies.
The festival is testament to the glorious range of independent food suppliers in Oxfordshire. From chocolate to chutney, burgers to bhajis, it was enough to send any foodie into sensory overload. We were so busy chatting to our guests and filing glasses that we barely had time to taste the delights on offer. But a rather excited Becs did manage to collar Mr Armstrong for a picture.
We’re already planning for 2015, and we hope you’ve got the 16th May firmly in your diary too.
